How we pick

Our goal is simple: recommend telescopes that make beginners want to go outside again tomorrow night.

Updated June 2026

We compare telescopes like you’d compare instruments in a logbook: what they show, how easy they are to use, and how reliably they deliver a sharp view in real conditions.

We prioritize stability. A shaky mount turns the sky into a moving target and makes focusing miserable.

We reward value-per-aperture. More aperture generally means brighter deep-sky objects and more detail on planets.

We favor beginner-friendly setup. Fewer alignment steps and fewer fragile parts means more observing and less troubleshooting.

We consider the whole kit. Accessories, support, and a model’s track record matter just as much as raw specs.
